Thomson MID1002 Review- A Basic Tablet

Tablets are popular mobile devices but they are not all advanced and powerful which is ok because sometimes you might want a tablet for basic tasks and light usage. The Thomson MID1002 is a basic tablet that is good for web browsing and other basic tasks. In this Thomson MID1002 review I will be talking about the Thomson MID1002 and how it works so you can decide if it is the right tablet for you.

What Is The Thomson MID1002?Thomson MID1002 Tablet

The Thomson MID1002 is a basic tablet that runs the Android operating system. It is capable of basic tasks but struggles with any heavy use and is not good for running any heavy or high end applications or games.

The tablet is a discontinued device but can still be found online and is a good for use as a secondary device or for quick and basic tasks.

The Thomson MID1002 is also a good choice for kids due to it being easy to use and only capable of basic tasks which makes it user friendly and good for keeping an eye on what your kids are doing on the device.

The device is portable and lightweight which makes it easy to taking with you and doing things like quick Google searches and taking notes on the go. It has a few good uses and even though it’s an old device it could be useful to you.

Battery Life & Multimedia

The Thomson MID1002 has an average battery life which lasts around 4 hours on one charge depending on what you are doing on the device. But the battery drains quite quickly if you are doing things like playing games or watching videos.

For this reason the device is better suited for basic tasks like running calculators and other tools, taking notes and basic web browsing. The multimedia options on the Thomson MID1002 are limited but include a camera that is low quality and is not good for taking a lot of photos.

There is also the ability to play music and videos on the tablet but it is quite basic and some file formats are not support. You can also play games and watch online videos on the device but because the device is outdated these tasks are not easy to get running on it’s old software so if you want to play a lot games and watch a lot of videos the Thomson MID1002 is not for you.

If you are looking for a better tablet you should consider the Lenovo M10 3rd Generation but make sure to stay away from the XGody V11 tablet as it is an old device with a lot of issues. If you would like to know more about these tablets I have a full review of both of them on this website.

Internet & ConnectivityThomson MID1002 Tablet In Case

The Thomson MID1002 can connect to the internet using WiFi and mobile data. It has a basic web browser for browsing the web. However it is slow and sometimes crashes due to it being outdated. Some websites also cannot be accessed for the same reason but Google searches and basic websites work fine.

There are few internet related apps on the device including YouTube but these are outdated and don’t run properly and the app store has the same problem. So using the internet is possible but only basic unless you update the software and can get newer applications installed and running.

As for connectivity the Thomson MID1002 has Bluetooth which works fine for transferring files between Bluetooth devices. There is also a headphone jack and a Micro SD card slot on the tablet but other than these features which are quite basic connectivity is quite limited on the device.

As you can see internet and connectivity features are available on the device but are basic and quite limited so you need to consider these things before you decide if the device is a good choice for you.

Apps & Gaming

The Thomson MID1002 has a few apps preinstalled that are found on most Android devices like a clock, alarm, calculator, email, web browser and more. There is also access to the Google Play store but it doesn’t work that well anymore due to the device being outdated.

Basics apps run fine on the device and so do low end games. But any demanding apps and games won’t run on the device due it being old and the hardware limitations. Even though the Google Play store doesn’t work that well anymore it is still possible to install basic apps and games.

This can be done by downloading the APK files through the web browser or using another device to load them onto an SD card and then insert it into the Thomson MID1002 to install the apps and games. This is not hard to do but it is not very user friendly so for this reason and the other reason I have discussed you should not use this device for using a lot of apps or playing games.

Is The Thomson MID1002 For Me?

I recommend the Thomson MID1002 to anyone looking for a basic tablet for doing basics tasks like basic web browsing and taking notes on the go. I also recommend the Thomson MID1002 to anyone looking for a secondary tablet or for a basic tablet for their kids.

I don’t recommend the Thomson MID1002 to anyone looking for a new or updated tablet as the device is outdated and can’t do a lot of things anymore. I also don’t recommend the Thomson MID1002 to anyone that wants to watch a lot of videos and play a lot of games as this not easy to do on the tablet due to it being outdated and it’s hardware limitations.
