Acer Iconia W700 Review- An Amazing Tablet

Acer is a popular and amazing technology brand and their tablets are just as great. The Acer Aconia W700 is an amazing tablet with many features and capabilities that make it the perfect tablet for everyone no matter what your needs are. In this Acer Iconia W700 Review I will be talking about the Acer Iconia W700 and how it works so you can decide if it is the right tablet for you or not.

What Is The Acer Iconia W700?Acer Iconia W700 Tablet

The Acer Iconia W700 is a tablet that was created by the technology company Acer. It runs the Windows operating system and has Windows 8 installed by default.

But it is upgradeable to Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 and if you are buying one that is used or refurbished it sometimes already has one of these upgraded version of Windows on it already.

The tablet has a full Windows experience and is very fast and responsive. It is the fastest tablet I have ever used and is very user friendly. It is great for getting things done at home and on the go due to it’s portability.

The tablet also has accessories available for it including a case, Bluetooth keyboard and a dock that gives it extra features and ports. The Acer Iconia W700 is also great for use at work, school and university meaning it is a device should consider if you need a tablet for one of these uses.

No matter what your needs are the Acer Iconia W700 has you covered in all aspects of your home, work and travel lifestyle. It is a solid, powerful and reliable tablet that you can rely on to get things done at all times and circumstances.

Battery Life & Multimedia

The battery life on the Acer Iconia W700 is great and lasts around 8 to 10 hours one charge depending on what you are doing. It can last a bit longer if you are just doing basic tasks like browsing the web and office work but like any device it will drain quicker if you are doing more demanding tasks like watching videos and playing games.

But despite what tasks you are doing the battery life last you the full day before you need to charge it so you should be fine if you need a full day out of it. There are some good multimedia options the Acer Iconia W700 including built in cameras and the front camera is also used as a webcam. The cameras are good quality and take good quality photos and videos.

Due to it being a Windows tablet you can listen to music, watch videos and do many other multimedia tasks easily like on any Windows computer so there are many multimedia capabilities on the tablet. The Acer Iconia W700 has 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage but it is not expandable because there is no Micro SD card slot on the tablet.

If you are looking for an android tablet instead of a Windows tablet you could consider the Thomson MID1002 if you are looking for something basic or the Lenovo M10 3rd Generation if you are looking for a great and up to date android tablet. If you would like to know more these tablets I have a full review of both of them on this website.

Internet & ConnectivityAcer Iconia W700 Tablet With Case & Keyboard

The Acer Iconia W700 can connect to the internet via WiFi and also mobile data on some models which both work really well. The default web browser is internet explorer which is now not supported but you can install many other popular web browser easily from a USB drive.

Browsing the web on the tablet is quick, easy and fast meaning it works fine and makes browsing the web a breeze. If you are doing things like watching YouTube videos on playing online games this will work fine as well and are quick and easy to load. You can also use any installed programs, apps and games that need an internet connection quite easily.

As for connectivity the Acer Iconia W700 has Bluetooth for transferring files between other Bluetooth devices and it works really well. There is also a SIM card slot on some models of the tablet for inserting a SIM card so you can connect to the internet with mobile data. But on models without a SIM card slot you can only connect to the internet via WiFi.

The tablet also has a USB port, Micro HDMI port and a headphone jack but it would be good if it had more than one USB port so you could connect more than one USB device at a time without needing to use a USB hub or get the dock. As you can see connectivity is quite good on the tablet and you will have most of the important connectivity features found on most other tablets.

Apps & Gaming

Apps and gaming are amazing on the Acer Iconia W700 and it also has an app store which is the Microsoft store. But you can only use the Microsoft store if you upgrade the tablet to Windows 10 because it no longer works on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 due to these versions of Windows being out of support.

You can also download an install any software and games you like from the internet using the web browser and USB devices. Most programs and games run really well on the tablet and you can do just about everything you can do on a laptop or computer on the tablet.

The sky is the limit with apps, programs and games on the tablet as long they meet the system requirements. This means that you have a lot of options and capabilities for apps and gaming on the Acer Iconia W700 because of the Windows operating system and you can take your favourite software and games anywhere and use them all on the go making it an amazing and powerful experience.

My Experience With The Acer Iconia W700

My first experience with the Acer Iconia was during my high school years because I was given one by the school to use for school work as a part of the national computer fund. I really liked it from my first day with the tablet until my last day with it.

It was always very fast, responsive and allowed me to get my school work done quickly and easily. I used my tablet for three years and during this time I only had one major issue which was the motherboard failed for some reason after a few months of use and had to be replaced.

But other than that I had no other issues with the device and I was able to get all my school work done without any issues. I also used the tablet at home for homework and other things and I never had any problems with it.

When it came time to return the tablet to the school at the end of my high school years I was sad to part with the device and missed it because of how much I liked it and because I has such an amazing experience with it.

Do I Still Use The Acer Iconia W700?

A while after I finished school I purchased a refurbished Acer Iconia W700 tablet on eBay because I missed using it and wanted one of my own. I still have it today and I have used it a fair but since I got it. I have had just as good experience with it as I did with the one I used during my high school years.

I haven’t had any issues with it so far aside from the battery draining quite quickly and a couple of keys on the keyboard coming loose but these issues were nothing that I couldn’t rectify easily. I don’t use it much anymore because it is not my main device and I haven’t upgraded it to Windows 10.

I left it running Windows 8 which is the way it came and decided to keep it this way for nostalgia purposes and because I like Windows 8. I have found a few ways to make it safer so I can keep using it online even though Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 support has ended.

I mainly use it when start to miss the Acer Inconia W7oo and when I want to use Windows 8 again but it still works fine and it still offers the same amazing experience I have always had with the tablet like I have already talked about in this Acer Iconia W700 review.

Is The Acer Iconia W700 For Me?

I recommend the Acer Iconia W700 to anyone who is looking for a great tablet with a full Windows experience that can be used on the go. I also recommend the Acer Iconia W700 to anyone who is looking for a great tablet for work, school or university that is easy to take with you and will get you through the day.

I don’t recommend the Acer Iconia W700 to anyone that doesn’t want a tablet with a full Windows experience and just wants something basic. I also don’t recommend the Acer Iconia W700 to anyone who  doesn’t like Windows or is looking for a tablet with a different operating system because you can’t change the operating system and you will be stuck using Windows on the tablet.
