Acer is a popular computer brand that has created many great devices over the years. When shopping for a laptop or computer Acer is a brand you should consider. In this Acer Aspire ES 15 review I will be talking about the laptop and helping you decide if it’s the right option for you or not. 
I have used an Acer Aspire ES 15 for 8 years and it’s still my main laptop. But sadly I will be upgrading soon as it’s getting old and reaching the end of it’s life. But this doesn’t mean it’s a bad laptop. The Acer Aspire ES 15 has served me well over the years and will serve you well to if you decide it’s the right option for you.
What Is The Acer Aspire ES 15?
The Acer Aspire ES 15 is a low end laptop with a 15.6 inch screen, 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD. The display is good and easy to see but is not that good in sunlight. The laptop is reasonably fast, responsive and works well on the internet.
You can get all your day to day tasks done on the internet without any problems including email, web browsing, watching YouTube and much more. The laptop also has a DVD drive which works well and allows you to play various types of CDs and DVDs.
The DVD drive on my Acer Aspire ES 15 stopped working suddenly after about 5 or 6 years and won’t read any discs or show up in Windows. I have also had to replace the charger once and recently I started having a lot of issues with the replacement charger and I’m now using a universal charger to charge the laptop.
Issues With Age
The laptop also gets very slow as it ages and it’s normal for old laptops and computers to be slow but this laptop has gotten so slow to the point it takes 15 minutes or more to get to the desktop. It also freezes often and takes time to load webpages. The other issue I have been having is connecting to the internet.
Sometimes it works fine but other times it takes a while to connect. My internet connection works fine on all my other devices meaning the issue is with this laptop. Keep in mind that these issues did not occur when the laptop was brand new and it worked fine for the first few years.
The Acer Aspire ES 15 is not good for games as it can’t run the latest games and even some older games due to it’s low end hardware. However you can still play older games and games with low system requirements as they work fine on the laptop.
Day To Day Tasks On The Acer Aspire ES 15
When it comes to day to day tasks like word processing and office tasks the laptop is great. Office software such as Microsoft Office 365, Libre Office and Open Office all run well and are fast. Multimedia is also decent on this laptop. Music, Videos and Movies run well on Windows Media Player and on other media software like VLC Media Player.
The battery life is alright but not as good as I hoped for. When I got the Acer Aspire ES 15 brand new I got around 5 to 6 hours of battery life on a full charge and this decreased as the laptop got old. Now I only get 30 to 60 minutes of battery life on a full charge so I always use it plugged in to avoid this issue.
It has served me well over the years until I started having issues with the laptop as it aged as I described above. The Acer Aspire ES 15 also makes a decent laptop for school students as it works great for web browsing and office work.
The Acer Aspire ES 15 cost me $500 to buy brand new back in 2015 but is now available on websites like eBay and Amazon for much lower prices.
Is The Acer Aspire ES 15 For Me?
The Acer Aspire ES 15 is a decent laptop all round and it is a good choice for anyone looking for a low end laptop. I recommend it to anyone who wants a cheap laptop that is decent or for anyone who needs a laptop for web browsing, office tasks and light gaming. I also recommend the Acer Aspire ES 15 for school students.
I do not recommend the Acer Aspire ES 15 to anyone who needs a higher end laptop or wants to play a lot of games as the the laptop is not designed for gaming and can only run older games or games with low system requirements. I also do not recommend it to anyone who needs a laptop for heavy use or wants a laptop that will last for years without any issues.

Conclusion
The Acer Aspire ES 15 is a decent low end laptop good for beginners or anyone looking for a cheap low end laptop. It has 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD and runs Windows 10. The laptop is great for web browsing, office tasks and multimedia including watching YouTube videos.
However it is not good for gaming as it can’t run the latest games and only older games or games with low system requirements work on the laptop. The laptop doesn’t have good battery life and has issues as it ages such as frequent freezing, running slow, internet connectivity problems and more.
I recommend the Acer Aspire ES 15 to anyone who wants a cheap laptop and just wants to basic tasks like web browsing, office tasks and light gaming. It is also a good option for school students that need a laptop for school. I do not recommend the Acer Aspire ES 15 to anyone who wants a higher end laptop or wants to play a lot of games.
The webcam and internal microphone are also poor quality but the laptop does have a lot of ports and connectivity features. Despite it’s flaws the Acer Aspire ES 15 is a decent laptop that has served me well for years and will do the same for you if you decide to buy one.
